P e r s o n a l i t y:
Though initially shy, Marisa is actually an energetic, fun-loving girl. Easy going to most, and therefore a mood booster. She's generally diligent, but can be easily influenced by peers, whether it's positive or negative influence. She's easily distracted and tends to dream a lot during class. You'll often see her with energy drinks during class (they help her stay awake). Marisa is reserved during class, but she's actually quite street smart an can be brutally honest sometimes. She's adventurous and got a tomboyish attitude. Some may consider her as childish. If there's something she really wants, she's willing to fight for it. *^* (*for more details, see 'additional info below)

History:

Before entering Tsunami Gakuen Marisa lived with her Papa, older brother and her good old Nana. As a small child, when her mother was still alive, they used to live by the sea but later on the parents decided to move downtown. Marisa couldn't remember an awful lot but the ocean always stayed with her, the sound of its waves crashing. She was glad they moved though. The place was filled with bullies.

Growing up in the city in a working class family was pretty tough but the family managed to deal with it somehow. Papa was a police officer and Mama made dresses while Nana helped taking care of the house. They lived in a squished area but the the community was so tightly knit that everyone would know each other (or at least by face). The kids went to a local public school. At first everyone was curious about the new kid, especially since Marisa looked a little different; she's half Spanish, half Vietnamese. But after a while they calmed down and little Mari proved to be quite popular among the other kids. The family slowly settled in.

And then Mama died. It was pneumonia, an easily treatable disease! But the doctor was an idiot. He failed to recognize it as such until it was too late. Papa was furious with desperation and sued the doctor. But what's gone was gone. The Alonzos had now to deal with being a motherless family. This was not all. While their Papa was busy doing that he didn't realize that dear old Nana was having Dementia. At times the old lady would run off from home and then in the middle of nowhere she'd forget where she was. These were hard times for the family especially for the kids. Marisa had to grow up quick and do what she could to help. She then did most of the chores and helped look after Nana. It left her with less playtime.

At 15 Marisa grew up into a cheerful girl. Her mother's death two years ago still conflicted her but with some help from others of she managed to get up again. She had to. Usually Marisa wasn't that enthusiastic about studying. At class she finds it hard to pay attention for very long. However, lately she changed. Together with her best friend Sophia, Marisa worked hard to keep her grades good and trained a lot in swimming, the one thing she's really good at. Her bestie told her about this prestigious academy called Tsunami Gakuen. It had the coolest facilities and subjects that you wouldn't find so easily in regular schools and most strikingly it was located beside the ocean. And that divine looking uniform...! It left the two girls swooning. But it was just too dream-like and their families both didn't have the income to send them there anyway. If they wanted to get into that school there was only one way. A scholarship. And so the two of them swore to each other that they'd work hard so that the next year they could go to Tsunami Gakuen. Despite only being average IQ wise Marisa was very determined. Although at times Marisa did feel disheartened about getting her grades up. It was a tough job juggling with house chores, Nana, friends, swimming and school. Sophia on the on the other hand was very smart. Her grades were always high anyway. Her scholarship was almost guaranteed.

Things turned upside down when Sophia had gone absent. After a while they found out she had meningitis leaving her hospitalized. It was serious. Her release was indefinite. Marisa was in utter shock. She was petrified! Who is Marisa gonna be all derpy with? How where they going to enter together Tsunami Gakuen now? Who was going to help her with studying?//hit/ But seriously Marisa was very worried for her friend. They kept encouraging one another none the less. Marisa had to promise that she'd get that scholarship.

Eventually Sophie got better after several operations and nearly going blind. Marisa met her at the end of the school year and was congratulated. It was a surprise but in the end Marisa got the scholarship she wanted. Being accepted into Tsunami Gakuen was like a dream come true. After multiple hardcore discussions and drama her Papa agreed to let her go to the academy. Even her mean brother, who is apparently just tsundere, got soft when saying goodbye. Papa accompanied Marisa on her long bus journey to her dream school.

Marisa loved this and would tell him to tell the stories again and again until her Papa got tired himself. Marisa still remembers those stories even though she's older now. She has developed a great fascination for the ocean.
